Why is my dog lethargic? Could new dogs or hot spots be the cause?

Lethargy and frequent urination can be due to a UTI or bladder stones. I would take Goose into the vet for an exam. The vet can do routine blood tests and a urinalysis to confirm if he has a UTI or bladder stones. While there, the vet can take a look at his hot spot. Hot spots can be caused by allergies, insect bites (i.e. fleas, mites), poor grooming, underlying skin or ear infections, and excess grooming due to stress and boredom. It's very important to treat the underlying cause of the hotspot in order to successfully treat the hotspot itself. I would take Goose into the vet today or tomorrow during normal business hours.

He could simply be tired, but if it goes on for more than 24 hours, I'd recommend a check up with his vet to make sure nothing is going on. He could have pulled a muscle or eaten something more than you realized during the visit. If he's not eating, extremely lethargic, or vomiting, I'd go to the vet ASAP.

It is difficult to say what this could be, but some dogs are hardy enough that the only symptom they may show of being ill is lethargy. I would certainly recommend having him checked out by a vet to be sure we are not missing a medical issue. They can perform a full physical exam to check for any areas of pain or infection, and may recommend additional blood tests or x-rays depending on what is found on the physical exam. For example, some problems I commonly see after grooming visits are skin or ear infections. If this is detected by the vet, they can recommend medications to help clear the issue. If he physically checks out fine, it is possible this may be a purely behavioural issue, in which case the vet can also provide advice on how to help as well. Hello. It sounds like Boo is in a lot of pain. It is impossible to tell where the pain is coming from without examining him but what you are describing is a very painful dog. I would get him to a vet ASAP. He could have a sore or broken bone or could have a sore gut. Your vet will do a full exam and then suggest different options. Good luck with Boo.

This may be from the stress of a new routine since you had to leave him. For some dogs, it is not uncommon for them to get lethargic and even have a decreased appetite due to changes like this. If he is not back to normal with in 24 hours of your normal routine again, then I would have him checked by your vet
