My dog has a leg injury and can't move it. What should I do now?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 2.8 lbs

my uppies leg is bed ridden he still eats and wags hs tale just cant moveleg.the vet says its only a injusry

Hi! Thanks for entrusting us with Meatball’s care today! Lameness, pain or inability to use the leg can be a sign of a few things that range from a muscle sprain to even a fracture. If things have not improved after seeing your veterinarian, I recommend that you have him reevaluated by your veterinarian so that this can be further assessed which will likely include radiographs. Treatment will be dependent on findings though at the very least pain control medications can be prescribed. Good luck! Hoping for a speedy recovery!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding your dog. If he continues to not bear any weight on that leg, then he will need to see his veterinarian. He will likely need x-rays to ensure that he did not fracture his leg. In the meantime, keep him very quiet to allow his body to rest. Carry him if he needs to move. Do not give any over-the-counter pain medications as these can be toxic to dogs. I hope this information helps!

Poor Biggie! If he is not able to put weight on the injured leg, he definitely needs to see a veterinarian as I would be concerned that he may have a fracture or dislocation. Your veterinarian can take x-rays to determine what's wrong and what treatment is needed - possible surgical repair, splinting, or rest and pain medication at home.

However, this could also be a fracture which can be very painful. It seems like she is in pain so it would be best to have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. My puppy is crying and can't stand, not using one leg. What to do?

Hell. It sounds like Bullet was injured. Perhaps someone tripped over or actually stepped on his leg. Even a bigger dog could have injured him. He does need to see a veterinarian as soon as possible. If the leg is fractured, bones generally heal very quickly when the proper treatment is started, sometimes within weeks. My dog suddenly can't use his leg and won't walk. What's wrong?

I would be worried about Spike. Things that come to mind are a disc that has ruptured into the spinal canal, a fibers clot, a blood clot, a tumor or somehow acquiring an injury. I would recommend to take him into the veterinarian's asap to get him checked out. The doctor may want to do an x-ray or may recommend referral to a neurologist based on what they find.
