Why is my 1-year-old Frenchie leaking poop and staining after naps?

Fecal incontinence is usually neurological as long as it is not diarrhea which can be due to food allergies, intestinal parasites, inflammatory bowel disease, or chronic stress colitis. Royal Canin GI dry and canned food may help decrease the volume of stool and is likely the best option for the fecal incontinence which is usually not treatable. Peeing all the time can be caused by renal disease, diabetes, cushings’s disease /hyperadrenocorticism or a UTI. Having a full CBC/Chem/Fructosamine bloodwork panel run + a Urinalysis and Urine Protein Creatinine ratio at another vet’s is an option to rule out these causes of the polyuria which can be managed with medications. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Chutki. Fecal incontinence is not a typical side effect of antibiotics. I most commonly see this happen in older dogs who struggle with mobility. In this case, it is painful for them to posture to defecate normally. So the feces will simply fall out. Other dogs will have weakness in their anal sphincter as they age and no longer to be able to control their bowel movements. There is not an age included with Chutki's profile so I do not know if this is a possibility for her. I recommend discussing the problem with her veterinarian. I hope this information helps!

Fecal and urinary incontinence can be caused by many things including problems with the nervous system or nerves innervating these organs due to spinal cord problems, vetebrae problems, enlargement of organs near the back of the abdomen, tumors, anal region problems, urinary incontinence secondary to her being spayed, etc. So I would highly advise a trip to your veterinarian and let them take a thorough history. They will perform a physical exam and most likely a rectal exam and then advise a set of diagnostics to try to solve these problems. Blood work, fecal tests, x-rays and ultrasound are all initial possible tests to be performed. Once diagnostics are performed the problems can then be addressed. I am assuming that your Boston Terrier has a corkscrew tail. This is a spinal abnormality that can go hand in hand with nerve malfunction of the nerves that control the anal sphincter. There is a possibility that when Valki is completely relaxed or walking she cannot hold in the poop all the time. Anal sac problems can also cause this, and a few other conditions. I suggest a visit to your vet to determine the cause of the fecal incontinence and possibly help the situation with some medication to strengthen the sphincter.

Hi there. I'm sorry to hear that Lucy has bloody stool! Bright red blood in the stool is an indication of inflammation in the colon wall. She may have eaten something that didn't agree with her, or she may have gotten a bacterial infection of her gut causing the inflammation. I would feed her a bland diet of boiled chicken and white rice and see if that clears it up. If she is still having blood in her stool by tomorrow mid day, or if she begins acting sick (not eating, vomiting) I'd have her seen right away. I hope that helps. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by the last portion of his intestine was lowered, however I think it is very unlikely that improper anal gland expression could lead to fecal incontinence. Sometimes dogs with chronic anal gland inflammation will leak anal gland fluid, however this would also probably not be related to improper expression and rather ongoing inflammation and anal gland disease. Fecal incontinence is more often a sign of a neurologic problem or occasionally gastrointestinal disease.

However, it usually does not represent an emergency. If it is an abscess, drainage and flushing of it as well as antibiotics may be indicated. I recommend that you have her evaluated by a veterinarian when possible if not open today for further assessment and treatment.
