My dog with kidney failure hasn't urinated. When to see vet?

Oh my. If she is straining to go urinate then yes this could definitely be a blockage caused by either a urinary stone or even a bladder mass is possible considering your pets age. I would recommend taking her in to your vet right away if this is the case so that she can get testing (urinalysis +/- abdominal rads) and treatment I hope that Jenna is able to make a full and speedy recovery soon! If she's completely refusing food and water and it's been more than a day, I would try to get her into your vet sooner or into the ER. You can check to see how dehydrated Aurora is by gently pinching and tenting the skin over her neck. If it seems "sticky" or is very slow to return back to normal, this is a sign of dehydration. If she's dehydrated in addition to her other symptoms and also is suffering from underlying health issues, I would have her seen right away.

This is an emergency and the dog needs to see a vet doctor as soon as possible. Not urinating for two days indicates that Joy either has a blockage, or he has kidney failure. Both, if left untreated, are painful and can quickly lead to death. I recommend taking Joy to a vet as soon as possible to get this treated.

Is she trying to urinate but can’t? If so this could be an emergency and she should be seen immediately. It is also possible that she is dehydrated and doesn’t have much urine to produce. Poor girl. I would certainly consider at least getting her checked again and fluid therapy (IV or subcutaneously). If her values are not too bad, she may be able to be managed at home with subcutaneous fluids that you yourself give. That is if you are up to the task. Also I am not sure if she is on a prescription kidney diet. If not, then she needs to be transitioned right away. The vet can also prescribe some anti-nausea medication for her to help with her condition. And lastly, I would highly recommend a supplement called Azodyl, which is a natural way to help lower your pets kidney enzymes. Their toxic levels in the bloodstream are directly correlated with how sick your pet will feel, so focusing on lowering these values can improve your pets condition greatly. Without seeing the blood work, I wouldn't be able to say if it is renal failure or not. If the BUN and Creatinine are elevated extensively and especially if the phosphorus is elevated then unfortunately Angel is most likely in renal failure. A urinary tract infection should not cause elevations in those values unless there is also a secondary kidney infection going on and she is in kidney failure due to that. I would recommend either requesting a consultation or resubmitting a question with the blood work attached. I am so sorry Angel isn't feeling well. Hello. Your blood work should have indicated if there were any kidney problems, so if nothing was said, I would rule this out. If she did well on antibiotics, but then regressed, she may need to stay on antibiotics longer. Some dogs remain on antibiotics for 6-8 weeks.
