My rescued puppy has kennel cough & tapeworm. Any natural remedies?

There are no natural remedies that works for worms, this is why when we get worms we take medications as well. Drontal is an excellent product and it will work for sure, you can use it once every 3 months after the next dose.

There's really nothing that can be given at home to lessen the duration of the condition. Keep him warm and rested, away from other dogs and be patient. If he hasn't been seen by a vet, it's a good idea to since he may need antibiotics to help him recover faster. If he's coughing so much he cannot sleep or rest, that's another reason to get him seen so he can be prescribed cough suppressants. An occasional spoonful of honey can coat his throat and help suppress the cough temporarily.

Unfortunately, there are no home remedies for worms in puppies. She will need a deworming treatment for her worms, and you can get one OTC from your vet's clinic (you don't need an exam) or from the pet store. I recommend giving Zura Panacur.

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Tator! The cephalexin is just to cover him for the kennel cough. You can call your Vet to discuss a cough suppressant. I worry he is coughing more from heart worm disease. He will need to be treated for heart worm. The best treatment is the 3 injection technique with adulticide. Treating heart worm in dogs is a big deal and comes with a lot of risks. I start doxycycline and heartgard. He would get his first injection and then 1 month later the 2nd and 3rd 24 hours apart. He would need to be strictly rested for 8-10 weeks. I recommend a good discussion with your Vet regarding Tator's treatment plan. I hope this helps and I wish Tator the very best!

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. There are no effective home remedies against worms. You should get a worming tablet for Munggol as soon as possible. Many of these medications are sold over-the-counter on the internet, in pet shops and in pharmacies. Even if your local vet is closed, you should be able to buy the de-worming medication for him. Also, you can start giving him baby probiotic with each meal - that should help the diarrhea. Once your vet is open again, please, take Munggol in for vaccination.

Unfortunately there is nothing very helpful over the counter that can be given for kennel cough. You can try to run a hot shower and let them inhale the steam for 10-15 minutes as sometimes this will help with airway congestion. The good news is that most dogs recover from kennel cough on there own fairly quickly. Make sure they keep eating and drinking normally because if they are stop this can be a sign of a more serious illness. If they aren't feeling better within a couple days or at any point their symptoms get worse you should have them examined by your veterinarian. Intestinal worms need to be killed. There is no alternative or natural remedy that kills worms. The easiest and safest way to do that is to use a worming medication that does exactly that. If dosed properly according to the weight of the animal, worming medications will only affect the worms and will not affect the animal. There are some exceptions: Ivermectin should not be used in collies and other dogs with MDR1 defect. However, there are many safe alternatives to ivermectin and in general all other wormers are safe and effective.
