My dog has itchy lumps on nose from camping. How can I treat them?

Hi. He may have come I to contact with something that irritated his skin, or it could be a skin infection, or mass. It is hard to tell from pics. You can make an appointment tomorrow. Until then he can have 1.5 tablets of a benadryl this pm

Bumps like this are usually a hypersensitivity response to an allergen. Also it could be bug bites that are having a localized reaction. I would recommend monitoring these areas to see if they continue to grow in size or cause pain/irritation. If they do start causing irritation for Snow, then you can place a cold compress on the area for 5 mins tonight and then get Snow seen by your vet tomorrow for further care, if it is still bothersome for Snow. Poor guy. He is likely having an allergic reaction to something he was exposed to outside. You can give him an antihistamine to see if this improves things. As long as his breathing is ok and there is no swelling around the neck, he is likely to be fine after 12 hrs or so as the reaction subsides. You can also try bathing him in an oatmeal or hypoallergenic shampoo to help calm down the skin. If the skin reaction does not improve or worsens by tomorrow then have your vet take a look at him and they can administer stronger medications to subside the skin reaction. It will take a bit of investigating on your part to figure out what he could have been exposed to to cause him to break out into hives.

I would be suspicious this may be s fungal infection, especially when it appears to be spreading. I recommend you get his checked and an appropriate treatment prescribed as soon as possible; be aware that some infections such as ringworm can be picked up by people also so handle with care until this can be ruled out

It sounds like Ruffo may be experiencing an allergic reaction. This could be due to something in the environment, foods, bee stings, etc, especially if it is causing facial swelling or puffiness. I would definitely schedule a visit with your vet to figure out the underlying cause and get him started on some meds such as an antihistamines to help with the swelling and itchiness. If the swelling worsens on his nose, or appears on his face, head, or neck, seeking care sooner is best as this is considered a serious condition.

This is most likely due to an allergic reaction. On the muzzle this is usually happens with an insect sting, or reaction to a poisonous plant (i.e. poison oak). This is usually temporary, but can lead to a skin infection, so it's good to flush the area with cool water 2-3 times a day. Flush the area using a syringe or other dispensing device with cool water for five minutes. This may not be easy, because dogs tend to hate water getting near their face. I recommend having someone help you with holding Bob to make sure the area gets flushed well. After flushing, you can apply aloe gel to the area to provide more relief. If the swelling is not going down within two days, then I would reccomend taking him to the vet for an evaluation. It may take a week for it to look normal, but it should start to look better within a couple of days. These reactions have the potential to get worse, so if the swelling is increasing, or Bob is having trouble breathing, then be he should go to the vet as soon as possible for treatment. Oh dear, poor Tomo! Both the bump on his nose and the red bumps around his mouth look most consistent with hives. Hives occur most commonly as a result of an allergic reaction. Unfortunately, we often are unable to determine the precise cause of these reactions, but they can occur due to insect bites or contact allergies with different grasses, leaves, chemicals, among many others. I strongly recommend discussing medication options with Tomo's vet or even taking him in for an exam to assure that there are not other more serious issues present.
