My dog has itchy, dark, raised bumps on his groin and stomach.

I recommend to have Cash examined by the veterinarian. Skin masses can be many things but red raised masses are especially concerning for a skin cancer called a Mast Cell tumor. This mass could also be a benign Histiocytoma. Unfortunately, they look alike. Your veterinarian will need to collect a sample of cell to examine under the microscope to determine what this is and if further treatment is needed. Protect the area from itching with a dog shirt and he shoudl wear an elizabethan collar at all times if he can reach the area. If it is a Histiocytoma, sometimes inject steroid into the lesion can cause it to shrink and stop itching. Have this checked out soon.

I am sorry to hear about Cassie. It looks like this could be a reaction to an insect bite or a small spot of infection we can sometimes see as a result of allergies. I would recommend cleaning the area with a mild soap and applying a topical antibiotic such as neosporin on the area 2-3 time a day. If the lesions are not improving in a few days, new lesions are developing, or the area is looking worse then I would recommend an examination by your veterinarian.

This redness indicates inflammation and is usually itchy. It's good to check her for fleas and get treatment if needed. This pattern is more suspicious of mange, which is a mite infestation. A veterinarian can check for these mites and prescribe treatment. One thing you can do for itchy skin, is give a bath with cool water using an oatmeal or aloe shampoo. You can get these shampoos at the pet store. I can see that Sir Nicholas has a small, raised, dark lesion by his nipple. This can be a mass under the skin, which may be malignant (likely to spread) or benign (unlikely to spread). I recommend having this area looked at by a vet. They will be able to either remove the mass completely and determine exactly what it is, or take smaller samples using a needle. It's not possible to tell without examining Cash, but a common reason for these types of lesions is a skin infection (pyoderma). These infections can usually be cleared with good cleaning, but sometimes require stronger medication. This also may be due to another problem like mites, or an autoimmune skin disease. It's best to have Cash evaluated by a veterinarian, so an accurate diagnosis and an effective treatment plan can be made. It depends a little on where these are and what they feel like. I am assuming under the skin if felt but not seen. If they are back in the groin/where the leg and groin meet and are on opposite sides from each other then they may be inguinal lymph nodes. If this is the case, especially if you're finding any other lymph node enlargement (the ones under the jaw are the easiest for owners to find), I would have your girl checked out by your vet. If these are just lumps under the skin they likely represent of mass of some sort. Are they freely moveable? There are several different types of masses that dogs can get under their skin, some more concerning than others. A very common benign tumor is a fatty tumor called a lipoma, but as other more concerning tumors can feel the same as a lipoma, I typically recommend that all masses be evaluated with needle cytology to know for sure. This is a simple procedure that your family vet can perforn. If fat is noted from this needle aspiration then no treatment other than monitoring is needed. If you elect to monitor for a while at home, and don't think that these are lymph nodes, just make sure that you're not noticing growth or a change in texture or the ability to move the mass around. Lesions like those in the pictures can be caused by bacterial, parasitic or fungal infection, dietary or environmental allergies or sensitivities, immune system disorders, or a combination of the above. In dogs like yours with hair loss and itchiness, one common cause can be infection by mites that can live in the hair follicles and lead to hair loss, and secondary bacterial and fungal infections that can develop. I recommend making an appointment to have your dog seen by your veterinarian to help determine the cause of the hair loss as soon as you can. The vet will likely want to look at a sample from the area (taken by a procedure known as a skin scraping) and examined under the microscope to determine what kind(s) of infection may be present and to figure out what medication is appropriate for treatment.
