My dog has itchy bumps all over his body. What's the possible cause?

This is probably caused by an allergic reaction. first of all make sure you de-flea Odin regularly every month with a high quality spot on (ex. Advantage) as fleas are by far the most common reason for these reactions. If the fleas are not the problem, it could be an allergic reaction to food or an environmental factor. this is more complicated to treat and will sometimes require medications such as Steroids, anti histamines or cyclosporin in order to stop the allergy.

Unfortunately, it's illegal for me to recommend any OTC medications. Keep an eye on him, and if the itching gets worse, the bumps spread, his face starts swelling, and/or he has trouble breathing, take him into an ER vet right away. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

These bumps could be from an allergic reaction, mites, fleas, or a skin infection. Because Benadryl hasn't helped and Kylo has had these bumps for a week, it's time to see the vet. The vet can diagnose the cause of the bumps, and can prescribe the correct treatment for them. I would take him into the vet in the morning. I hope this helps!

It really comes down to figuring out what is causing his allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. A secondary infection is likely and also needs to be addressed. There are medications such as Apoquel or prednisone which may help with the itch. 

 There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. 

Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). 

If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein and new carbohydrate). If that does not seem to be the issue then you are left out having to check for environmental allergies which require blood and/or skin tests.

 Allergies can be very frustrating to deal with at first but so rewarding at the end when we are able to treat them effectively!

Poor Poseidon! It's probably not related to heat rash. It sounds like Poseidon probably has an allergy causing itching and possibly secondary bacterial skin infection. Allergies can be related to food or environmental allergens. It is also possible that he has mites, fleas, or ringworm. You should make sure Poseidon is on a quality flea preventative like Frontline Plus, Bravecto, Nexguard, or Advantix. You can try bathing Poseidon in a gentle oatmeal shampoo or Douxo Calm shampoo to see if this helps. If Poseidon is very incomfortable he will likely have to be examined by a veterinarian. Skin samples can be obtained to make sure he doesn't have an infection and medication can be used to help with itching.
