My dog has an irritated snout bump. Is it serious or just anxiety?

It is hard to tell from the photo the characteristics of this bump. I would say it is possible it is related to trauma and I would monitor for now but it could also be a tumor (either benign or malignant). My recommendation would be to monitor it for the next 24 to 48 hours, and if it is still there in the same size or it is bigger I would have a veterinarian examin the area. Further testing might need to be considered such as taking a sample of the mass and sending it out for interpretation at the laboratory. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. It looks like this lump could simply be a benign tumor, but that's impossible to say without seeing the dog in person. Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of its cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the cause of the lump is diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment options if needed. I would recommend having the lesion evaluated by exam and needle cytology to make sure it is not a mass. Options for her stress level could include asking your vet for an oral sedative/anti anxiety medication that you can give her before bringing her to the clinic or finding a house call vet in your area that can come to your house to look at it. There is no way of knowing what it is just based on its appearance. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. Look at that cute nose! IT is really hard to tell by the picture if Mia has small pustules (skin infection) or if they are actual masses/bumps. The small pustules could be from a primary allergy. A contact allergy could cause irritation to the nose and lead to the pustules. IF they are growth I would recommend a vet complete a fine needle aspirate. This is when a vet places a small needle into the mass and looks at the cells under a microscope. This will allow the vet to determine what the growths are being caused by. I would recommend taking Mia to a vet due to her young age and having a hard time telling what is going on based on the pictures. Hope she feels better

A lesion like that could be several things including an ingrown hair, allergies, skin mites, bacterial infection or a skin tumor/mass. There are a couple things you can do at home and they can help but they may not address the underlying cause. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing her diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. You can wash the lesion once a day (not her whole body, just the lesion). Also protect the area from trauma by having your pup wear an elizabethan collar at all times. If the lesion does not start improving within a week or if it is getting worse, have her examined by the veterinarian. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

I would not be concerned about this. It looks to be either a papilloma wart or a histiocytoma (benign tumor) both of which are common in young dogs. Usually these things will go away on their own within 4 to 8 weeks. If it gets larger in that a time frame or by 8 weeks it has not gone away then he should see your vet. Hope this helps.
