My dog has an oozing cheek bump. How to get vet care for anxious dog?

That looks like a mole or wart that is not unusual for older dogs to get. If your vet offers the option of sending them a pic of something since your dog does get so stressed, they may be willing to tell you their opinion based on what they see in the photo. Ideally, it would be seen by your vet for a definitive diagnosis, but you may just want to keep an eye on it. If it abruptly changes size, shape. color, or texture, then you should get it checked by your vet right away.

I am sorry to hear about Daisy! Due to the size of this lesion and the fact that it isn't improving, I would recommend taking Daisy to the vet for examination of this swelling. I would be concerned that we could have a bacterial infection like an abscess, that this could be a spider bite or other insect bite, or possibly even a mass/tumor. The vet can examine the area and may try to aspirate the swelling (use a small needle to remove any fluid present or collect cells that may help identify the cause of the swelling and the best treatment). A picture would be extremely helpful. If you can, try reposting with a picture. Based on age and location, It is completely possible that this is a benign wart or benign histiocytoma that does not need surgery or bloodwork at all. I would address the separation anxiety with your vet though because in my experience it actually worsens- not improves- with age. A little anti-anxiety medication can go a long way! Lesions like this can be a few things including a skin tumor, an ingrown hair, an infection or a blocked pore. You may monitor this lesion for the next week. Protect the area from scratching or rubbing with an elizabethan collar if needed and you may apply a warm (not hot) compress twice a day for 5 minutes. Check the lesion every day. If the lesion does not start improving within a week or if it is getting worse, have him examined by the veterinarian. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
