Do pet insurance companies need vet notes or a medical summary?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

How different is a medical summary from those with notes? Insurance requests notes as well.. Dog you have experience submitting to insurance? Which? How difficult? What exactly did you send? Did the request more, if yes what? What is important to note on the required exam?

I am afraid this is different in every state. You will have to discuss this with your veterinarian who wrote the notes and keeps the records. There may be legal provisions that he does not have to give you his personal notes and sometimes the insurance companies will request information they are not legally entitled to. Please contact your veterinarian ASAP and discuss this with him.
