When should I take my dog to the vet for an inner thigh scrape?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Male | neutered | 40 lbs

I'm wondering if I need to see a vet asap for what appears to be a scrape on my dogs inner thigh area.

This looks more like a scrape (abrasion) than a cut. If the skin is not cut, you do not need to take him to a vet. You can disinfect the wound and put neosporin ointment on the lesion for a few days. Should the wound start to get infected and ooze pus, then you should take him for an exam and wound treatment.
