My dog has hyphema. Can I use neomycin and polymyxin eye drops?

This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. It is not safe to use human medications without knowing the exact medical condition as some treatments can actually worsen the patient's condition when used inadequately. I highly recommend that you have Hershey evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Further therapy would be based on the findings. Good luck and best wishes!

Cedar is exposing her third eyelid. This can have several different causes, including head or neck trauma, something stuck under one of the lids, corneal ulcer or abrasion, infection, among others. If the medication was prescribed for Cedar and DOES NOT contain a steroid, it should be safe. Steroids could interfere with healing in some cases and should not be used until after evaluation by a vet.

It sounds like Falkor may have an eye infection. You can gently clean the eye out with saline, but I would not use those medications you have on them. Legally, I cannot say if it's safe to use them on Falkor because doing so requires a veterinary client patient relationship which cannot be achieved via an internet forum. In addition, the experts cannot say for certain if a specific drug is safe for your dog. They could also be the wrong drug for his condition, and they could be expired. His eye does need to be examined by a vet, which can let you know if it's safe to use those medications, or can prescribe him new ones. I would have him seen by a vet right (and bring the meds with you), as any eye condition should be considered an emergency (leaving them untreated can lead to vision loss).

Hello and thank you for the update. Please, do not use dexamethasone as it is detrimental in case of corneal damage. You can use Ciprofloxacine instead twice a day until you can get Roshni seen by your vet. There is no need to use systemic antibiotic, like Amoxicilin.

Red eyes with discharge in dogs can be due to a variety of reasons, including allergies, an eye infection, a scratched cornea, dry eye, or another underlying issue. While antibiotic drops may help with some of these, they may not fix it depending on what the cause is. I would recommend Eddie be evaluated by his regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for his eye issue, have any necessary testing done (eye stain, pressure check, tear production check) and what medications (if any) he may need. Hello, sorry to hear about Luca. Ideally you should not used any medications on the eye that are not prescribed by your veterinarian. That is because certain medications can make some conditions worse or not help at all. There are versions of Polisporin that contain steroids, which would make any eye ulcer worse. Therefore, I would recommend that Luca is seen by a veterinarian before you apply anything into the eye. You may wipe the mucus with a soft damp towel. Hope this helps and best of luck.
