My house is 73. Is that too warm for my pet? When should I worry?

Cats tend to do well at similar temperatures as humans. I think leaving your house around 70-72F would be fine. A little warmer or colder also would not hurt. Cats tend to enjoy being warm so you may find him seeking out sunny spots in the house to sun bathe. He will move once he gets too warm. I hope this helps!

It's probably unlikely that Duchess got sick from being in an air conditioned room unless the room was so cold that her immune system was suppressed. That being said, I appreciate your concern for Duchess! Ideally most cats would probably prefer temperatures between 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit. Great question! That is a fine temperature for Luna, and she should be comfortable. That is a temperature that is the lower end of the ideal temperature for a newborn baby's room, and since she have fur unlike a human baby, she will be just fine. If you are a bit concerned that she could be cold, you can get her a heated cat bed, or leave out some blankets for her to curl up in at night. She may even enjoy coming into your room to sleep with you at night! It's so lovely you are so concerned about her, and I hope this helps!

Keeping fans on to circulate the air and providing plenty of water are great ways to help keep Scout and Benny as cool as possible. I recommend opening any windows as well so that any breezes can help circulate air too. If you do these things, they should be safe to keep in the house in temperatures up to about 90 degrees. I would not play with them or exercise them in this heat as this can cause them to overheat. As a reminder, pets cannot sweat so they have to cool off by panting. If you think either of them are too hot, you can lay cool/wet towels over them and place them in front of a fan to try to actively cool them off. I would monitor them closely for excessive panting, especially if they are laying down and panting for prolonged periods. You can also examine their gum color and if it appears bright red, this can be a sign of heat exhaustion. If you see any of these signs, I would recommend having them evaluated by a veterinarian who can address their potential heat stroke. I hope this is helpful!

If you are able to sit in your apartment without distress, then your kitties if they are in good health should be able to tolerate it, but I would provide plenty of cool water and fans to help cool them, and if they show signs of distress such as excessive panting or lethargy/decreased appetite consider bringing them to a friend's house or boarding them somewhere with air conditioning. If they have any underlying health problems it may be more dangerous for them/possible for them to become overheated.

As long as the doghouse is heavily insulated and she has thick bedding inside, and the door isn't open to where the wind blows in, it should be fine. Hi, and thanks for posting this question. Ambient temperature for pups that age should be around 80 degrees, so as long as mom is with them her body heat probably keeps it around that temp.
