Is it safe to give my dog honey if they have a URI or a cold?

Can my 9 month old GSD have a teaspoon of honey? She has a URI.

Yes. Honey is fine to give. It is a natural anti-inflammatory and can help with some of the inflammation and irritation along her respiratory tract (nose and throat). However she should still receive medical treatment through your vet and get on a short course of antibiotics. Most URI's in pets are caused by multimodal bacteria and therefore need antibiotics to clear.
