  Most cases of kennel cough will resolve, with or without treatment, within 3-4 weeks. The cough can linger for a bit longer. A half teaspoon of honey several times daily may soothe her throat and ease the cough. Monitor for lethargy, fever, difficulty breathing or a productive cough. These are symptoms that should be addressed by your veterinarian.

  Hello. Yes, you can give about a 1/2 teaspoon of honey 2-3 times a day to soothe the cough. If Cookie shows any malaise, such as lethargy, loss of appetite, wheezing, please contact your veterinarian as she may require antibiotics at this point. I hope she is feeling better soon.

  This is suspicious of kennel cough, which is an infection of the upper respiratory system.
  
  Kennel cough is most suspicious if Honey has been in contact with other dogs in the past month or so. If Honey has not had contact with other dogs, then the cough is likely due to something else. They can develop a cough with conditions like pneumonia, heart worm, heart disease and cancer.
  
  For this reason, it's best to have Honey checked out by a veterinarian. They will be able to determine the cause of the cough and prescribe the appropriate treatment.
