My dog hit his shoulder on a chair. Should I worry about a broken bone?

He should be just fine. If he was going to be injured you would know by now. I would not be too worried. Just keep a good eye on him and if he starts limping or acting sick then get him to your vet for an exam but honestly, I think he will just be fine. No worries! Hope this helps. Best wishes.

I hope Sam is feeling better today! If though it was the broom, not the chair that fell on him, he still could have broken a bone in his foot. If he is still noticeably limping, take him to the vet as soon as you can. If he is not favoring the foot anymore, allow him rest (don’t encourage exercise) for the next few days and take him in if he isn’t continuing to improve. Poor Bruno. If he is acting relatively normal, with no limping or lethargy then he is likely just fine. It takes a lot more blunt trauma than a fall that occurred in a car to cause internal organ damage. He likely helped because it scared him and cause him minor discomfort at the time, but now he is all better. Just continue to monitor him for the next 24 hrs for any abnormal behavior and get him checked by your vet if you notice anything unusual (vomiting, lack of appetitie, limping, continuous crying out, etc). But chances are he will be just fine. : )

It can be difficult to tell for sure if your dog is in pain, however I'd have to say given the recent events (the door slamming on him) and his inability to settle (wandering the house) it's likely that he is. Hopefully he sustained just a bit of muscular trauma that's leading to soreness, but if he isn't completely back to normal at this point (i.e. he's comfortable and you can easily pick him up and interact with him without him showing signs of pain) then I would for sure take him in to see his vet, as he could have broken a rib, and that injury can have serious consequences, such as puncturing lung tissue.

Oh no, poor Roscoe! Accidents happen, and likely getting hit did hurt him but if he's not showing any pain when you press on his ribs, he's likely ok. Keep an eye on him for now, and if he is limping in the morning, becomes lethargic or anorexia, if his chest area appears swollen, or the area becomes painful to the touch, I would have him seen by a vet.

Try restricting Bruno's activity for 24 hours. Leash walk him for elimination and avoid any running, jumping or rough play. If the lameness persists, have him seen by your veterinarian for a complete physical and orthopedic exam. Bruno may have injured his hip or knee. Xrays will likely be indicated to diagnose or confirm joint disease or ligament damage.

If it just started you can let Bruno rest for a few days with minimal walking and minimal physical exercise, if it does not improve within 3-4 days you will have to take him to the vet in order to get it checked and treated, he might need pain killers for a few days. if the vet think it's something more serious such as a fracture, joint injury or foreign body, he might recommend to have an xray done as well.
