Why is my husky not using his leg after hip surgery? Wound won't heal.

Unfortunately I'd guess that this is an implant failure, and the symptoms may not resolve until the screw is removed. I'd recommend rechecking with your vet to see what they would recommend next. It's possible that a different surgical procedure will need to be performed, or your vet might want to try getting a culture of the wound and a longer course of antibiotics.

This looks like a moist bacterial dermatitis. This likely happened because the joint hurt and your dog was licking the area. This damaged the skin and bacteria can then cause the dermatitis. You will need to take Ranger to a veterinarian for an exam of the hip and the skin. Ranger will likely need pain medication for the pain in his hip and a prescription antibiotic for the dermatitis. The are of the affected skin will need to be shaved, cleaned and disinfected.

I am sorry Lucu is not feeling well. I would recommend taking Lucu to the vet to determine if she maybe has an infection at the site of the fracture. It is also possible that she is having a reaction to the antibiotics and might need medications to help calm her stomach. I hope that helps

This wound requires an immediate check up and possibly a stitch up as it seems infected and it is unlikely that will heal without immediate intervention. It is hard to tell from the picture - heat, redness, discharge , smell and pus would be the red flags most concerning. A small bit of swelling and blood spots is not uncommon but a post surgery recheck to monitor her temperature and signs of infection would be recommended for safety as infection could cause problems in the longterm

I am assuming that the original wound never healed, only got better. If that's the case then I would suspect either a foreign body has entered the leg or an insect/spider/other has bitten him that started the entire problem. Puncture wounds can look very different over time so it may have been only one small puncture wound from the inciting event. I would advise taking T back to your veterinarian so they can recheck the wound and possibly rethink what is going on. (Assuming they saw it initially) after it first happened. They may want to culture the wound and run a sensitivity of the bugs that grow out of the culture to determine what antibiotics would be best. They may also advise some x-rays to determine if a foreign body has entered the leg although this can be of questionable value depending what the foreign body could be. Exploring the wound might be another option. All of these can be discussed with your veterinarian and I have made some assumptions here and could be wrong.
