My male dog growls at other males. Will neutering stop this behavior?

Canine aggression is a complex behavior as it can stem from dominance, possessiveness, fear, anxiety, resource guarding or a combination. It is never a guarantee that this behavior will be corrected by neutering but in many cases it does help quite a bit. Many times this behavior is because the male dog is establishing dominance over another animal. Other times, this is breeding behavior and is corrected by the drop in testosterone after neutering. It sounds like Kiba is entering the stage where is hormones are telling him to get all the lady dogs pregnant, and to keep away other male dogs. I would recommend neutering Kiba to keep him out of trouble. Fights with other male (and even female) dogs can turn ugly very quick. Neutering at this early age should prevent long-term aggression, but it can take 6-8 weeks for the hormones to completely leave his system. Unless you are planning to breed Kiba, there is no medical benefit to leaving his testicles in a this point. His chill personality should be locked in, and testosterone is no longer needed as he should be done growing at this point.

Yes, having them fixed can help reduce aggression as dogs fight over territory and females. I would definitely have them both fixed, and I would also recommend professional behavioral training for them both when they are fixed. This is a very dangerous situation and depending on the trigger for the aggresion neutering may or may not help. I would not recommend this without an individual visit from a certified behaviorist to explore the triggers and patterns of behavior.
