My dog has a grey bleeding spot on his gums. What is it?

Thank you for providing such good pictures. It looks like Lars has broken part of his tooth and what you are seeing is the pulp cavity. The pulp cavity is the center of the tooth where the nerves and blood supply run. The problem with having the pulp cavity exposed is that the area will be painful, and bacteria can now get into the tooth. In order to prevent infection, either the tooth needs to be extracted or a root canal needs to be performed. If your vet doesn't perform these procedures, they can refer you to a veterinary dentist who does. But have your vet evaluate Lars and give you their recommendation. That is probably due to the contact between the gum and the canine which is affected by tartar. There is moderate gengivitis as well. A check up and descale and polish of the teeth and an antiseptic mouth gel/solution (one designed specifically for dogs) would be ideal to resolve the condition. Constant bleeding from the gums is not normal and not that easy to stop. It could be a bleeding disorder or a gum/teeth condition, it needs to be checked by a vet, if it's a tooth that is causing this, or something that is stuck in the gums, your dog will need to be put under sedation in order to solve this issue.

Oh my. At this age your pet shouldn't have too much dental disease to cause bleeding gums. This is definitely not normal and I worry that Abdul may either have a bleeding disorder (which can only be diagnosed and treated through your vet) or there may be multiple cuts in the mouth from something sharp your pet recently chewed on. I would highly recommend taking Abdul in to your vet to have them examine the mouth asap since a bleeding disorder is a possibility here. If there are cuts in the mouth that is causing this, then an oral rinse and oral pet friendly anti-inflammatory medicaiton will likely be prescribed. I would bring him to your vet to have him sedated and his mouth examined. Your vet may also recommend a dental X-ray to make sure no teeth have been cracked by biting the pipe which may need to be removed to prevent a tooth root or gum infection.

This could be due to gingivitis or other periodontal conditions. Have Diesel physically examined by your veterinarian. A complete dental cleaning may be indicated. If he will allow, daily brushing would slow the progression of dental disease. Use a pet approved toothpaste and toothbrush.
