My puppy peed green. What could cause this and is she okay?

It is definitely an odd finding for the urine to be green in a dog and would actually be more suggestive of severe muscle or kidney injury. If this were a reptile or bird with green urine then I would be more suspicious of liver disease. I'm actually suspicious that the green frothy substance was bile-tinged vomit rather than urine. They can have vomit that looks like this when they are vomiting profusely and on an empty stomach. Either way, this is not a condition that I would wait on much longer. It's best if you can take your dog to an emergency vet as soon as possible. They will be able to have a better understanding of her condition and can at-least give some treatment to make her feel better. I am wondering if her urine is strongly concentrated. I have never seen green urine before but really concentrated yellow urine can have an odd appearance. The urine becomes more concentrated when a patient drinks less water or is dehydrated. I would recommend taking her and a urine sample to your vet to just make sure it is normal and she does not need supportive care like hydration. I hope that helps

One of the most common reasons that urine becomes darker is if a puppy is dehydrated. If Loki is not drinking normally, that may be a concern. Food change should not cause a change in the color of the urine unless you changed from a wet food to a dry food and they are not drinking enough water to compensate for that change. Other reasons for urine color to become darker include problems with red blood cells or muscle cells. Stool color can be altered by changes in food, especially if colors are added by the manufacturer, intestinal parasites, and intestinal bleeding. Intestinal bleeding can be caused by ulcers, parasites, or conditions such as IBD. This changes the color of the stool due to products of blood digestion, which are black to dark green in color. Kidney conditions can cause gastric ulcers as certain toxic compounds build up in the body and alter acid production of the stomach. That is odd and unfortunately, it's a little hard to know what that is. It looks like there are flecks of more solid material in there which makes me lean toward vomit or a discharge from her vulva. Green coloration is always worrisome because it can signify significant infection or rat bait poisoning (which is green/blue or a combination). I do recommend to have her examined today to be safe. Show the vet your photo. Check the house and yard for any rat/mouse bait. Look for anything she could have gotten into that could be this color. Syptoms will not show up for a few days. A serious infection in the uterus called a pyometra can also cause a greenish discharge.
