My dog has green discharge and wheezing after kennel cough meds?

If her cough has not gotten better but worse and she has green mucous draining from her nose, she likely still has an upper respiratory infection and should be seen and treated at your local veterinary clinic. Another (likely longer) round of perhaps a different antibiotic may be prescribed. Your vet may test for distemper and/or do chest x-rays to check for pneumonia. It looks like and sounds like from your description that your dog has a respiratory infection. I would recommend that he be seen by your veterinarian as he needs some prescription antibiotics due to the thick nasal discharge. Your pet is contagious to all other dogs and should be isolated from any contact with any other dogs.

It sounds like a respiratory infection, it could be kennel cough or a similar type of infection. you should take him back to the vet in order to start him on an antibiotic course ASAP. you shouldn't be worried regarding catching an infection from him though, it is very rare for a human to catch a respiratory infection from a dog, they do not tend to get those infection from viruses/bacterias that affect humans.

Alfie is displaying classic signs of an upper respiratory infection (aka kennel cough). These can often be due to a viral infection, so that is likely why the vet has prescribed the benadryl; they are treating conservatively. The benadryl will help make Alfie feel better, but will also make him tired. However, it appears the infection has gotten worse and I would be prescribing antibiotics at this time. They do tend to feel crummy (much like we do when we have a cold), but rest assured, this is not an emergency and no need to rush off to the emergency vet. If Milo is still having diarrhea tomorrow morning, have him seen by a vet. The green discharge may be normal. It's called smegma, and it actually comes from the penile sheath. I hope this helps!

Hello. After 3 weeks I would be a little concerned as to why Tristan is not any better. I would not use the Mucinex as this can dry out the secretions & actually make things worse. If your veterinarian has not done chest x-rays, this would be the very next step to see if there is something else going on. In the meantime, I would try doing some steam therapy with him. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Dixie. I recommend that he sees a veterinarian today. His symptoms are worrisome. A severe respiratory tract infection can cause green nasal discharge and coughing. He could also have pneumonia. If he is unvaccinated, distemper virus infection can cause respiratory and gastrointestinal signs. The veterinarian will examine him and may make testing recommendations such as x-rays of his chest.
