When will my dog show signs of gastroenteritis after exposure?

That is good that he doesn't have parvo but could have a different virus. He could also have an intestinal parasite so he should be tested for parasites, as well. It is difficult to predict how long it will take him to recover because every dog is different but I would expect him to start showing some improvement within a few days of starting treatment. Hopefully, with the treatment he will fully recover, although I am not sure of the cause of the gastroenteritis. If he doesn't start improving then your vet may need to do additional testing and add some additional medications. Hope he gets better soon! He is very cute!

I would say that 4 days is on the long end of what I expect so if she does not defecate in the next 12 hours, I would recommend seeing your vet to make sure she is not constipated (which could happen with serious dehydration). Hello. Most gastrointestinal disease is spread by the fecal nasal or fecal oral route. This means your dog has to come into actual contact with contaminated feces from the affected dog in order to get sick. By just sniffing & touching you, your dog should be fine, but do consider updating his vaccinations to protect him from other diseases that are out there. However if she continues to vomit, or isn't eating at all after 48 hours she may need some fluid therapy. I would recommend contacting her vet tomorrow if she still isn't eating. If she vomits anymore tonight or seems to feel worse then she may need to go to an emergency clinic tonight.

The green means that her stomach is empty and she is starting to pull fluid from the upper small intestine (where bile enters). The vet may recommend a Parvo test, bloodwork, or x-rays to see what is causing her sickness, and can make an appropriate treatment plan when they have a better idea of the cause of her vomiting.

There are many reasons why dogs develop diarrhea. Some of these reasons are that they are something they shouldn't like trash, fatty foods, or possibly ate something that isn't food at all, such as a piece of a toy, stick, or stone. A dog may also develop diarrhea from parasites, ingesting a toxin, or some sort of infectious disease, among many other possibilities. My general cutoff if a dog is eating and drinking well and acting normally is 36 hours without the diarrhea resolving likely warrants a trip to the veterinarian. Your vet will examine Natty Boh and may recommend abdominal radiographs and possibly some bloodwork. The vet may prescribe an antidiarrhea medication and because diarrhea can lead to dehydration, they may offer to give her some fluids either under her skin (subcutaneously or in an IV). Until you can get Natty Boh to the veterinarian I would recommend making sure she is drinking well. You can also try a bland diet of plain boiled boneless skinless chicken breast and white rice to help settle her GI tract until she can be examined by her vet. I hope this was helpful!
