My dog has a film on its eye. Does it need an urgent vet visit?

It appears that there is a severe corneal ulcer on the left eye but hard to say for sure for the right eye. The ulcer appears to be a melting ulcer, which is quite severe. These eyes need the care of an eye specialist and further treatment. Many times, drops alone won't be enough to treat the eye. I would consult with a veterinary ophthalmologist so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made.

It appears that she has an eye infection, and yes you should take her into the vet. Any eye problem needs to be checked out by a vet promptly as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. With eye problems I recommend a veterinarian to evaluate them. It could be something simple as an infection, allergies or dust or it can be more like a corneal ulcer. Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. The claudy eye is a sign of corneal wound or ulceration. It is usually caused by a scratch, foreign material, blunt trauma, or caustic substance irritation to the eye. You need to take Zeus to your local vets for an appointment as soon as possible. Once the diagnosis is confirmed, Zeus most likely will need a course of eye drops and anit-inflammatory medication. Untreated corneal ulcer can turn into a melting ulcer, which can cause loss of vision in that eye.
