My dog has a fever and nasal discharge. Can I give her aspirin or home remedies?

Take her to your veterinarian for an immediate check up. This sign is compatible with a upper respiratory tract infection (fungal, bacterial/viral more common) of the nasal mucosa. You don't need to give him any medications at the moment. human meds to reduce fever are not suitable for dogs and medications to reduce fever are rarely given in case of mild fever. if your dog does not seem to get better within 48 hours you should take him to the vet in order to get it checked and treated.

First of all, NEVER give a dog any human medications unless directed by a veterinarian. Aspirin is extremely irritation to the stomach and will cause gastric bleeding very easily in dogs. If the weather has gotten very cold where you are, this could be affecting his attitude. The change in food may have put him a little off balance even though he's not showing any apparent symptoms. I recommend getting him in to see your vet, just to make sure there isn't something underlying that is causing him to be lethargic and subdued. If it's enough of a change to concern you, it's worth getting your vet to check just to be on the safe side.

A fever this high is usually indicative of a bacterial or viral disease going on. Your veterinarian will need to run some tests to try and determine the cause of the fever. Once the cause is identified the proper antibiotics, antifungals, or antipruritic drugs can be prescribed. The tablet given to your dog is basically a fever reducer but will not treat the cause of the fever. I would recommend taking your dog in for a recheck as soon as you’re able to. I would strongly advice to have all of them checked and have your female dog treated (antibiotics will be needed). Paracetamol can decrease body temperature but it is unlikely to help more than that and distemper can develop anyway. Distemper shots can be given if your dogs are not affected.

Paracetamol is toxic to dogs, you should absolutely not give it to Jake. these symptoms are probably due to an upper respiratory infection, in most cases the symptoms will resolve within 2 weeks without treatment, if the symptoms do not resolve or become severe- take him to the vet in order to get it treated.
