My dog's face is raw and irritated from soap. What should I do?

It does look a little irritated there. That could be caused by irritation from a muzzle or face halter, or could be regular allergies starting up. I would recommend keeping the area clean and dry, for now. If it's not getting better after 3-5 days, I'd recommend a vet visit to see if she needs most medicated wipes. It's common for young dogs to get superficial bacterial infections around their lips, which usually doesn't require oral antibiotics, but may require a topical treatment. I hope that helps! I would clean the area, but do not apply any ointment. Oftentimes this is irritating and may make them more likely to rub or scratch more. An Ecollar may prevent him from causing any more trauma, but doesn't treat the underlying cause. If you are unsure why he is rubbing, a vet visit may help to determine the cause of his itchiness. He may have mouth pain that is causing him to rub, or allergies making his face itchy. If the underlying cause isn't found and fixed, he is lilkely to keep rubbing and may cause more sores.

I see what you mean about that area under Pete's neck. I also do not recommend using any more water or soaps to clean it. The skin itself looks a bit irritated, and I wonder if he needs something like an antibiotic or steroid cream to treat it. Sometimes these lesions can occur from rubbing the muzzle on cages doors, carpets...etc. Sometimes they can also be from infection and less commonly from an autoimmune disease. I would recommend to have him examined by his veterinarian who will likely prescribe medication orally. Treating this area topically can be difficult as most dogs will lick off any medication you apply to the area so oral medications are generally best. You should also protect the area from further rubbing with an elizabethan collar which should be worn at all times. You can try gently washing the ears with an antibacterial hand soap (rinse well) once daily if he tolerate it. That looks pretty irritated. Its possible that she's got an underlying allergy, but that skin looks infected. I strongly recommend you get in to see your vet. She may need antibiotics. You can try a medicated shampoo and a some topical over the counter treatment for a few days, but if she's not improving after a few days, or if its getting worse or she starts acting sick, get her in to the vet ASAP. Hi. This appears to be a hot spot on him. This is basically an area of a moist dermatitis , or skin infection. They are usually secondary to allergies of some type. They are treated at the veterinarian by clipping the area, cleaning it with medicated cleaner, and then antibiotics and antiinflammtories. I'd call your veterinarian in the morning for an appointment

Those spots on Churro could be several things including allergies, a reaction to the plastic, mites or just a one time bacterial infection. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing her diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. You can wash the lesions with soap once a day and rinse well (don't get soap/water in the nose or mouth). Protect the areas from licking or scratching. Change food/water bowels to glass or metal and wash once weekly. Wash all the chew toys once a week as well. If they don't start looking better within about a week or if they get worse, have her examined by her veterinarian who may prescribe medications.
