My dog's eye is worse after cherry eye surgery. What should I do?

Cherry eye cane be frustrating as you have already found out. From the second photo, I do not see a prolapsed gland but it could just be the angle. I can clearly see the prolapsed on the first photo. When in doubt, take her in. Some dogs have a more prominent third eye lid and it can be sometimes hard to tell if the gland is actually out or not. Hopefully the surgery was a success and the gland is fully covered and protected. Best of luck!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Butters. I do recommend that she sees her veterinarian again as her eye still sounds painful. Her veterinarian may prescribe an eye medication to help or even check the eye for a scratch across the surface. The sutures could have irritated her eye a bit. In the meantime, place an E-collar on her to prevent her from scratching and causing self trauma. I hope this information helps!

That looks like Cherry eye but a swollen 3rd eye lid could also look like this. Cherry eye is not generally uncomfortable/itchy so I have some concerns that something else is happening (maybe a foreign object trapped underneath the eye lid). Yes, continue to have her wear the cone and I recommend to have her examined today to determine the exact cause and treatment. If it is cherry eye, surgery should be done quickly. I hope this helps.

I would recommend having this examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate treatment recommendation can be recommended. Surgical correction is the most recommended treatment. From the photo, I see the third eyelid is more visible but I cannot see the gland itself so it may still be in place. The grey discoloration is concerning for a scratch or edema in the cornea and I recommend to have Dante seen by his veterinarian today if possible. You certainly don’t want anything else to effect that eye! Also make sure Dante is wearing an Elizabethan collar as it will help protect the eye from rubbing or other damage. Hello. I would not be annoyed at your veterinarian as things can happen, but it is clear that there needs to be either a treatment change, or the surgery site may need to be reexplored to make sure all infected material was removed. Previcox is a good pain reliever, but gabapentin is much better adjunct to pain management than tramadol. The antibiotic you are using is usually adequate, but your vet may also choose to augment this with something else, like a fluoroquinolone. Under normal circumstances, an eye should not look like this 1 week post surgery. You do need to contact your vet to make them aware of Pearls' condition. I recommend calling your veterinarian. When pets do not respond to treatment as expected, that can mean that the real reason for the illness was not discovered. I suspect the veterinarian will need to examined Aura again and check for a foreign object trapped under the eye lid or uveitis. Call the vet today. Best of luck.
