Puppy's eye scratched, swollen, leaking brown. Is it an emergency?

I can certainly understand being concerned about Bruski! He is in need of immediate veterinary attention, as if the cat scratched his eye, he could now have an infection in his eye. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would take Bruski into the vet right away to have his eye examined and treated.

I would recommend getting Duke to the veterinarian ASAP. If he has a penetrating foreign body to the eye, puncture, or even a deep scratch he could potentially become blind in that eye without quick intervention. I wounds are often very painful and he may require pain medication, as well as topical medication and or systemic antibiotics. If you are unable to get to an emergency clinic, use a warm wash cloth to clean off his face and get to a vet as soon as possible if he's squinting or his eye looks odd in any way.
