What are the best antibiotics for my dog's eye infection or pink eye?

Hi and thanks for posting. Topical eye medications are really best for eye infections including conjunctivitis and other conditions of the eye. The Augmentin would help treat any skin infection around the eyelid or skin surrounding the eye. An accident such as finger poke in the eye can cause injury to the cornea of the eye which will need to be diagnosed with a vet eye exam. Specific eye medications are used to treat various conditions of the eye such as corneal injuries so it is best to see your vet if the eye appears swollen in any way.

The antibiotic that would be efficacious towards Klebsiella would be a ophthalmic solution that contains tobramycin or gentamicin. Best of luck!

From the picture you have provided I would suspect that Lolo and the other pups have an upper respiratory infection with that eye discharge being present. I would recommend having them seen by a veterinarian as I would not recommend giving a human product without the consent of your veterinarian due to appropriate dosing. I would recommend starting them on Clavamox, which has a different concentration for animals. This will need to be prescribed by your veterinarian once the puppies are examined. I recommend giving it according to your vet's recommendations. Clavamox is the most commonly used antibiotic in the world for dog bites (also in humans by the way). it's rare but sometimes clavamox won't work in such a case, my next antibiotic choices would be Metronidazole or Cephalexin. you will still need to get them from your vet though.

The most important aspect of treating an ear infection is applying the appropriate medication (determined based on ear cytology, or looking at a sample of ear discharge on a microscope slide) directly into the ear canal as a topical treatment to the infection. Sometimes, particularly if the eardrum is ruptured, a dog may be put on an oral course of antibiotics and/or antifungals (depending on the type of infection), but penicillin would not be a usual antibiotic choice as it is unlikely to address the more common causes of ear infections. Therefore, injectable penicillin is not a typical component of treating an ear infection. I recommend you have Aerial seen by your primary veterinarian, and they can help guide you on an appropriate treatment of the infection; injectable antibiotics should never be used without the guidance of a veterinarian.
