My puppy's eye is still closed after washing, should I see a vet?

You could rinse his eye out with an eye wash or some artificial tears, like GenTeal drops. If his signs continue then he needs to be examined by a vet to determine the cause. He could have an infection, scratch, ulcer, or foreign material in his eye and your vet can stain his eye to evaluate his cornea for damage. Now, if she is having any discharge, if the normal white part of the eye (sclera) is red, or if she has bright red conjunctiva, then she should definitely be evaluated by a veterinarian. If she has an ulcer or an infection, putting the wrong medications in her eye may lead to a worsening condition and even the loss of her eye.
