My dog escaped and is limping with heavy breathing. Should I call vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 65 lbs

My 60lbs dog got out of our backyard through a very small space. When we found her, she had a few scratches, a slight limp/slowness, and her breathing has been shallow and heavy. Could it just be exertion and she needs to rest or should we call her vet?

My biggest concern would be her breathing, if it wasnt for that i would suggest resting her, however, if the breathing does not settle shortly i would head to the vet just in case something serious has happened to her chest.
