My dog eats bed sheets before sleep. Is blockage a risk? How to stop?

I would recommend contacting Midnight's vet about this. Depending on how long ago he ate it it may be recommended to induce vomiting and to try to get him to throw up the sheet. Otherwise closely monitor him for the next few days to weeks for any sign of intestinal blockage; which can include vomiting, straining to defecate, painful in the abdomen, not eating or drinking. Chewing is very normal for puppies but if he eats his bed, he could end up with an intestinal blockage which requires surgery or it could be fatal. Here is a link about chewing: https://www.petcoach.co/article/chewing-in-puppies-how-to-control-it/ Some puppies will chew no matter what, although it sounds mean, for those puppies, I recommend to remove the bed completely if they keep shedding it. Some puppies can have it at night. Some can't. Some beds are also more chew resistant than others. I hope this helps.

Eating filling from a bed will do one of two things, one- it can be pooped out with no complications, two- it can cause a blockage in the gut that requires surgery to remove. I recommend monitoring Buddy closely, if he is eating and pooping just watch his poop for the bedding, but if he is eating and pooping normally for 3 days it has passed through the system. If Buddy has ANY signs of not wanting to eat, vomiting, weakness, sore in his belly, or even just a decreased appetite, then I would get x-rays or an ultrasound ASAP. Hopefully he poops it out soon! Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Puppies are hard! Sadly ingesting fabric can cause an obstruction. If you aren't sure if she ingested any then you can fast her or if you haven't fed her yet have her seen for an X-ray. If she hasn't eaten in 12 hours or more she should have an empty stomach. If it is full then we'd be worried about fabric in her stomach. The other option is to wait and see if it becomes a problem. Signs of a blockage are lethargy, vomiting, not eating, and belly pain. If any of these symptoms occur then she would need to be seen right away. Since she is a bed destroyer I would recommend not allowing her access to beds, blankets, sheets or stuffed animals until she outgrow this. She will be fine sleeping on a hard surface. It may be a territory type behavior as him marking it and establishing dominance. He may be bored and this can contribute to. It is safest to keep him in a kennel if not being watched to minimize the risk of him eating anything that can cause an obstruction

Hello. The first thing you need to do is recover or throw this bed away. Much depends on how much Snowind may have ingested, but most times only a small piece is ingested. Most pets are just interested in a taste & rarely eat enough to cause a problem. You should just keep an eye on him for any abnormal gastrointestinal signs such as loss of appetite, vomiting or diarrhea over the next several days. Unfortunately, this is one of these situations that really stinks. Yes, of course you want Moose to be comfortable, but you also don't want him to be in surgery the next day having blankets removed from his intestines! If it were my dog, I simply wouldn't risk it. I would maybe try to put something very thin in there, like a bed sheet, and see if he still tries to destroy that. Some dog don't like how it smell either unfortunately, so it may not be the most enjoyable experience for Moose. The safest best would be to leave the crate empty. My dogs regularly sleep on the cold, hard floor in my house voluntarily and seem quite comfortable. I wouldn't fret over this issue too much.
