My poodle's ear is squishy with dark red discharge. What's wrong?

If he does have an aural hematoma, this can either be surgically drained by your veterinarian, or managed with anti-inflammatory medication and time until it eventually resolves on its own. I am sorry to hear of your concerns for Sonny. It is good to know the ear doesn't seem to be painful. The thickening/swelling and bruising you have noticed make me wonder if Sonny has an Ear Hematoma. This is a collection of fluid (usually blood) between the cartilage layers of the ear flap. Given the discoloration visible on the outside of the ear I suspect Sonny has sustained some sort of trauma to his ear that has led to bruising and fluid accumulation. I would monitor the area carefully, and if it seems to be getting worse it starts to cause him discomfort then please have Sonny seen by your regular veterinarian for a full evaluation.
