My dog has ear pain and head shaking. Should I take him to the vet?

I recommend that you have Macy evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Your veterinarian would be able to check what type of infection is present and treat accordingly. Unfortunately the picture you provided is quite blurry and it is difficult to see the inside of the ear. For a definitive diagnosis, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Coco so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. The veterinarian can examine the ear using an otoscope and obtain any waxy debris for analysis if needed in order to help determine what treatment is best for Coco. I would recommend having Frank examined by a veterinarian. The vet can look into Frank's ear to make sure nothing is stuck in the ear canal and to see if there are signs of an ear infection. Poor guy. Unfortunately it sounds like Cooper has an ear infection that will require a vet visit, especially if he won't let you touch his ear. The vet can prescribe some pain medication (if requested) to help calm him enough where it will allow you treat his ears at home. The vet also has to prescribe some ear medication and cleaner once they test his ears to determine what kind of infection is present. Most ear infections respond well to treatment within 7 days. I would recommend just leaving them be for now, until you can get Cooper in to the vet. I wish you all the best with your pet Cooper and I hope that his ear infections resolves soon! Take care.

I would recommend trying to get Desmond in sooner. It does not have to be today but maybe tomorrow or wednesday. It most likely is an ear infection that needs medication. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Based on the pictures, it appears that Nikko has a growth or a mass at the entrance of his ear canal. It could be normal tissue that is overgrown due to inflammation, it could be an fluid filled swelling (seroma or abscess) or it could be mass. Masses can be benign or cancerous. If he is shaking his head and the ear is sensitive he could also have an ear infection. The growth could be contributing to an infection. Most ear infections are due to overgrowth of yeast and/or bacteria. Your Vet can look in his ear and look at a sample of the ear wax under the microscope to diagnose an infection. Due to the growth and the possible ear infection I think it would be best to have Nikko examined by your Vet. I hope this helps and I wish you and Nikko the best!
