Why is my dog losing ear hair and getting bumps? Home remedies?

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 5 months old | 55 lbs
My 3.5 yr old bully pit is slowly losing hair behind her ears with acne like bumps all over her neck and chin area....is there any home remadies i could try before breaking the bank trying to find a vet?

1. Douxo PS Chlorhexidine combination shampoo and bathe twice weekly until resolved
2. Malacetic conditioning spray and apply to the affected areas 2-3 times per day until resolved
3. Essential 6 spot on by Dermoscent
4. Douxo PS Calm mousse and apply to the entire body once daily on the non-shampoo days.

Since they are healing with the treatment now the issue is to find the cause. This is most likely a food or inhalant allergy. With flea allergy the hair loss and itching is usually over the back and by the tail. I recommend giving medicated baths weekly and using the medications prescribed as directed. Talk with your veterinarian about doing a food trial or allergy testing. Skin problems can be difficult to control unless you know the reason Daisy is getting them. Once you get a diagnosis then controlling the skin infections becomes easier. Many dogs still need to stay on some medications but they should be able to prevent a severe recurring infection. I am so sorry that Daisy is losing her hair and starting to develop bumps. You didn't mention above but I am assuming she is likely itchy since she is losing hair and developing bumps. Unfortunately, there are a lot of different things that can cause itchy skin with hair loss and bumps including but not limited to fleas, allergies, food allergies, bacterial infections, fungal infections, mange and much more. I would strongly recommend calling a veterinarian for an exam, possible diagnostics and medications. Until you are able to get to the veterinarian, you can try giving Daisy 50mg of benadryl (2 adult tablets) twice a day to help her. I hope she starts to feel better soon!

Without seeing him, it is difficult to say definitively what may be happening. After fleas, consider mites or I faction (bacterial or fungal). Allergies or food sensitivities are also possibly. Keep the area clean and dry. Use an e-collar (cone) to prevent licking or chewing. If the bumps spread or the hair loss worsens, consider and exam with your veterinarian. Antibiotics or anti-histamines may be indicated. Discuss allergy testing, hydrolyzed diets and food elimination trials with your veterinarian.
