My dog drank sweet almond oil. Is it an emergency? Do I need a vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 22 lbs

Our dog drank some sweet almond oil meant for massage. I need to know if I should take him to an emergency vet. It's midnight here.

If he ingested small amount of oil and it is definitively pure oil without anything else inside, this ingestion can cause mild to moderate gastrointestinal signs like vomiting and diarrhoea, but nothing else.
To give you a specific answer I would need to know the amount ingested (roughly).
