Dachshund dragging butt, sleeping more, no worms. What's wrong?

Dogs can have worms without there being any worms in the poop. Typically it is eggs that are shed, and those are microscopic. To truly rule out worms, a vet needs to look at a sample of Daisy's poop under a microscope. It could also be she has a problem with her anal sacs causing this behavior. She could have a problem with her anal glands an need them expressed or she could have a problem with her back and/or tail causing some pain. It would be a good idea to have your vet take a look at her to determine the cause and treat. She may just need her glands expressed or she may need a pain medication and/or anti-inflammatory. She could have some arthritis causing discomfort.

Poor Chakita! She may have blocked anal glands and that's causing the strange walking and trouble defecating. I would recommend a vet visit for sure, but you can look under her tail and see if any area there in the region of the anal glands looks raw, red, swollen or painful. These glands can get blocked and then abscess and this is a very painful condition, and usually by the time it gets to this point the dog really needs to be on pain medication and antibiotics, and you won't be able to do much for her at home. You can always try to soak her rear end in a warm water-epsom salt bath several times daily to help alleviate anal gland swelling if this is the issue, but it'd be best for her to see a veterinarian to make sure there isn't something more serious going on like a rectal tumor or blockage.

This will put extra pressure on the back legs, and that could be why the pain is worse when she poops and pees. Dachshunds are also prone to back problems, and that would also cause increased pain when peeing or pooping. If she isn't getting better, I would recommend taking her back into the vet and having an x-ray done on her spine just to make sure there isn't a problem there as well. This could be a sign of intestinal worms (more common at this age) or anal gland impaction. if he has not been treated for worms yet that would be the first step to take. you can buy a dewormer for puppies over the counter in per shops.

I am sorry tootsie is having a hard time. My concern would be arthritis, possible back disease, neurological issues or infection. I would recommend taking her to a veterinarian for a good exam to check her back and back for pain. I would recommend limiting her excercise and not allowing her to jump until she is checked out.
