How often should I deworm my 6-year-old dog and what tablet to use?

There is not any problem with deworming your dog from a technical standpoint monthly, but if you are finding yourself having to do this there might be a bigger problem at hand. There could be some resistant parasites present in the gastrointestinal tract that require a different medication. I would submit a fecal sample to your veterinarian or perhaps even to a laboratory to have them analyze the sample and check for the type of parasites. Hi, it is fine to give the two tablets together as a single dose. The dose is accurate for a 20 kg dog, how often your repeat it will depend on how frequently he comes in contact with parasites. If there are lots of worms in the environment, he could be wormed every 3 months but I would double check with your vet. Hope this helps !

Your pet should get two doses 2 weeks apart because this is the life cycle of the worm. The dewormer i usually recommend is called Drontal plus, bear in mind that unlike the flea/tick products, dewormers do not protect your dog from future infestation, it only kills the worms on spot. for fleas and ticks i usually recommend Bravecto tablet or Advantix spot on. all these medications are considered to be high quality and safe.

Is Captain Jack Sparrow on heartworm prevention? This is the monthly pill that prevents against heartworm disease. It also prevents against the most common intestinal parasites. If he is on heartworm prevention I would just recommend yearly stool samples to make sure he didn't pick up an intestinal parasite that the heartworm prevention does not cover. If you do not give heartworm prevention then I would recommend yearly stool samples to make sure that Captain Jack Sparrow doesn't have intestinal parasites. You can deworm him with a general dewormer like Pyrantel every 6 months also. Understand Pyrantel doesn't cover every intestinal parasite. Drontal is a very safe deworming tablet, so I would give Tofy one table. Doses of up to 10 times the recommended dose will usually only cause some nausea, so giving her a little bit extra will not likely result in any harm. I hope this helps!
