How to create a daily schedule for two huskies' walks and training?

A 10 minute was twice a day is really encouraged. However, once their body acclimates to that you could easily work them up to an hour walk it more a day. If you want to run them I would start at a 5 or 10 min run several times a week and work yourself up by 5 minute increments weekly. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.

That is a long time to leave a dog home alone, and huskies are VERY active dogs. If he needs to be left home alone that long during the day, I would make sure to walk him on a long walk before you leave, and again first thing when you come home to get out excess energy (assuming he is an adult and up to date on all vaccinations). If you are leaving him home, I would get him used to the house by limiting his access first- either through crate training or baby gates to avoid him getting into items or chewing on things he shouldn't. If he seems anxious, providing him with a puzzle toy stuffed with food or treats, playing a soothing TV or radio show, and other distractions can help. If the Husky is a puppy, then this is way too long to leave a young dog alone as they likely cannot hold their bladder that long. Having someone that can come check on him and take him out potty every few hours during the day, or coming home yourself to do so is best until he is older and can hold his potty long enough.

Hello. You are doing the absolute best thing by slowly adjusting your dog to 2 walks a day. Great job! I would not worry about Archie not going out at lunchtime unless he has any type of medical problem. He should be able to hold things in until you return home. Most pets with working parents never go out until someone comes home from work. I am fortunate to go home for lunch every day, & most days one, or sometimes both my dogs, refuse to go out. They want to see what mom is fixing for lunch. So if they do not go out, then they have to wait until I get home at 5:30. Try to let Archie out twice in the morning, as soon as you get up & right before leaving the house. In the evening, 2-3 times is more than sufficient. He will adjust just fine. This is a difficult question to answer because it's all based upon her and your temperament. Huskies in general tend to be very active dogs who can become destructive when bored. They need lots of daily exercise to meet their energy requirements. They can also be very vocal dogs. Keep in mind, every dog is an individual so she may not act like this. ANY dog who is bored may develop bad habits. Being an outside dog means that she has been able to run around and has likely not experienced much structure in her life since she was not inside with the family. Living inside means rules, structure and routine. It's also unknown if she is housebroken or not. Taking on any pet is a big responsibility. Many huskies live indoors just fine. If you decide to adopt her, you will need to commit to daily exercise and be prepared for some bumps along the way. You may want to take off work for the first week so you can be home with her as she adjusts. You may also look into doggie daycare or a dog walker to come by and check on her during your work day until you know how she is adjusting. Put the other dogs inside in separate rooms where they can't see you from the windows. Play fetch, take them for a run (if you run), walk on a leash in a park, bring pull toys outside. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If the dogs are not in shape I would start off on short walks multiple times per day to work up their tolerance. There is no formula per se as all dogs athletic abilities and desire to walk and run are different. If you are looking for a running partner start off walking and then a slow jog and slowly increase your distance. I think it is fair to say most dogs should get 2 walks per day. A pet should always have access to fresh water. You can set up a schedule for going out. For example, take them out first thing in the morning, around midday, dinner time and just before bed. For the puppy, the general rule is to go no longer than 1 hour per month of age plus one hour before allowing him to go out to eliminate. This means the Husky should be taken out every 6 hours.
