My dog cries all night after fireworks. Is it anxiety from moving?

I would recommend feeding her dinner in her crate and making this a place where she wants to go and is comfortable for her. I would make sure she has plenty of room to move around in as well. You can try using the Adaptil products to see if this calms her down and relaxes her. It can take some time for a dog to become crate trained but the key is to make it an enjoyable place that she wants to be in. If she associates the crate with food and a place where she sleeps, she will hopefully find the crate less stressful. I hope this helps! Hello! If often takes some time for a pet to adjust to their brand new home and family. Most dogs need a few weeks to become confident and comfortable in their new environment. It would be helpful to know exactly what she is doing that is causing you to be concerned though. Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It looks like Loki is a mixed breed dog but resembles a coonhound. Dogs can exhibit anxiety and be nervous in new situations, so him whining and being unsure of a new place is not unusual. It can take a while, weeks to months, for him to become very comfortable at your place, but I wouldn't give up! Depending on whatever their previous life situation was, they can take time to adjust to a new home and new people. I recommend being as kind and gentle to him as you can, and be patient with him as he adjusts to your home. If he hasn't seen a veterinarian in the last year, I recommend having him seen for an exam to ensure he is otherwise healthy. I hope this is helpful!

Dogs have anxiety and stress just like we do. Give her time, lots of attention, and she should adjust just fine. In severe cases of anxiety I use anti-anxiety medications off-label like Lorazepam that you can get from your veterinarian.

If you have something from the "old" place, put it in the crate. that may provide some comfort. A pheromone product, such as the Adaptil collar or DAP plug in diffuser, may decrease any anxiety associated with the move. Keep a small nightlight on for them until they acclimate.

Sounds like its been a very stressful situation for Dalila. It may take some time for her to get used to her new surroundings. At home, you can try things such as a pheromone diffusing collar/plug in to help her calm down some, or even play a soothing talk radio or TV show when you are away. Distraction through extra play sessions, puzzle and chew toys, etc may also help her cope with the change. If the anxiety continues, or worsens, talking with your vet or a local veterinary behaviorist is best as they may be able to suggest additional training tips or even provide a medication to help reduce her anxiety while she adjusts.

Bubba is likely experiencing stress from the change in homes. This should decrease as he acclimates. Provide a warm, quiet area for him inside. Make sure he has easy access to food and water. Give him some space and some time to "settle in". You can use a pheromone product such as the DAP diffuser or Adaptil collar to decrease any anxiety. Have him examined by your veterinarian within 72 hours of arriving home to ensure good health or to treat any pre existing conditions.
