My dogs cry in their crate at night after moving. What can I do?

Move his crate into your room. As he acclimated, you can gradually move it out. You can also try a cover, nightlight, leaving a radio on low and place a heating pad under the crate to provide warmth. Use on with a thermostat and make sure he cannot get to it or urinate on it. A pheromone product, such as the Adaptil collar or DAP plug in diffuser, may decrease any anxiety.

If it's only happened once, I wouldn't be too concerned as it may just be something startled Moose that evening. If the behavior continues, then looking for triggers such as strange noises, people, animals, sounds, etc may alert you as to why he is becoming agitated at night. Moving the crate to a quieter place may help. If he starts showing signs of illness, or remains agitated all the time, then scheduling a vet visit to rule out any health issues is smart.

Belle may be having some anxiety. I recommend trying Composure chews and an Adaptil diffuser. The first thing to do is have Lola checked by the veterinarian for pain. It's possible she still has pain, it waking her up, then she's distressed. If a medical cause is ruled out, start feeding Lola in her crate and leave treats in there for her to "find". This will create a positive association and should help re-adjust her to the crate. Leave a nightlight on for him as well as a radio tuned to a talk station on low volume for "company". At his young age, he's going to want to be close to you. It will take time for him to acclimate to being in the crate.

Young puppies like this are often anxious about being left alone, even if they're just in a crate across the room. You can help him learn to enjoy being in his crate by giving him a special long-lasting treat each time you put him in - something like a Kong toy stuffed with peanut butter works very well for many puppies. This will help to keep him busy and encourage him to settle, and will also teach him to associate good things with being in his crate.

You are doing everything right. Having all her usual things (bed, toys, etc) is a great idea. Remember that everything around her is new.
