My dog cried out, now panting with no wounds. Is it a snake bite?

That is not the type of reaction I would expect from a bug bite. I would be concerned about pain first and foremost. If she's still pacing, panting, or acting erratic, I would recommend taking her to a vet right away for evaluation. They will likely do a physical exam and take some x-rays, maybe run some blood work. I hope she's feeling better soon!

If it was a poisonous snake, then it would cause a great deal of swelling, so I wouldn't worry too much about a dangerous snake bite. There are some nonvenomous snakes there that can bite and cause pain, but they are usually not that bad. I would suspect that something else could be causing the pain. It could be an injury to a muscle, tendon or ligament. It may be OK to wait a couple of days to see if it gets better. If Rocky is otherwise acting normal and you don't see swelling, then it likely won't hurt to wait it out. It really depends on the injury though and it's difficult to know without seeing Rocky. In the meantime, you can ice the sore leg for 15 minutes twice a day. This may help.

Hello, The two puncture wounds do appear that they could be from a bite wound. A small dog, cat, or snake is possible. I only see one picture, but since she is still alive a day after the bite, it is not likely to be from a venomous snake. If she was bitten by a poisonous snake, then it would be obvious by now. The first sign is a great amount of swelling at the site of the bite. It would also cause her to be very depressed and she may start to have dark red gums and blood in her urine. This would all be apparent by now. If she is acting fine and there is no swelling, then there's little need to worry. She may have been bit by a non- poisonous snake. If you see a bite mark, then it's important to flush the wound well with normal water for ten minutes once a day until healed. If you do happen to notice swelling at the bite area, or other signs of illness illness, then you should take her to the vet immediately for treatment. I hope that helps and all is well with Ivy.
