Why is my dog coughing and vomiting after vet shots or leash pulling?

He could have gotten kennel cough while he was boarded, which is not unusual in situations where dogs are kept in fairly close quarters. I recommend getting your dog in to see your vet as he may need a prescription for cough suppressant and/or antibiotics to help him recover more quickly and easily.

Unfortunately it's impossible to know the underlying cause of the coughing without a physical exam and possible radiographs. Pets can cough due to allergies, infections or something more sinister. Even vaccinated pets can get kennel cough though it tends to be less severe (just like humans can get the flu even though they have the vaccine). Treatment is different for each of these conditions. At home you can try rest for a few days so no running or anything to cause panting. Keep her from barking as well. If you don't want to wait you can certainly have her examined today. Otherwise if the coughing doesn't improve after a few days or if it gets worse at any point, I recommend to have Sadie examined by her veterinarian. Best of luck.

If it's been a week since her vaccinations, it's unlikely that her current vomiting issues would be related to this - most vaccine reactions or side effects are seen within the first 24-48 hours. There are many different things that could cause vomiting in an older dog like this, so it's hard to say what might be wrong without being able to examine her and run some tests. Because of this, I would recommend taking her to the vet tomorrow for an exam. He/she can do blood work and x-rays if needed to help diagnose the problem and see what kind of treatment is needed.

I'm so sorry Mayor is having this problem. Unfortunately, puppies can cough enough that they cough up foam. I would recommend contacting your vet. They may have you take Mayor's temperature at home to see if he is running a fever. We see a lot of upper respiratory diseases in puppies that are contageous, so they may or may not want you to bring him in to the vet. She is very beautiful! Without seeing her it is hard to say. Coughing is a sign of kennel cough but the sneezing isn't. While the kennel cough vaccine is a great vaccine, it is like the flu vaccine and doesn't prevent the disease just lessens the severity.
