My senior dog is vomiting a week after her vaccines. Is it related?

I would recommend that you have Dahlia examined by a vet. Poor appetite and vomiting are not likely related to vaccines administered 3 weeks ago. There can be lots of causes for this, such as dietary intolerance or indiscretion, food allergy, intestinal parasites, GI blockage, gastroenteritis, bacterial or viral infection, IBD, pancreatitis, among others. The vet will do a thorough examination and may recommend diagnostics such as x-rays or bloodwork.

Six days of straight vomiting is quite concerning, particularly in an older dog like Oreo. Since he just had cataracts removed, I am going to operate under the assumption they probably did some pre-anesthetic blood work and would have told you if they found anything of concern. While four weeks is enough time to elapse for something new to show up, if there was a condition that was somewhere chronic in nature I would have expected at least some mild indicators of disease on this blood work. Given the symptoms have only just begun in the last week, I doubt the antibiotics are the culprit. Vomiting for that length of time in an older dog usually makes me think of foreign object ingestion, kidney / liver disease, or some type of cancer in or around the GI tract. I would recommend diagnostic imaging in the form of x-rays and/or ultrasound to rule in / out certain processes. If nothing is found to explain the vomiting, the doctor may recommend referral for an endoscopy of the upper / lower GI tract. Hope this makes sense.

It is possible that it is a reaction from the vaccines if they were given in the last 24 hours. However it may be more likely it is related to the pulling and chocking on the leash that has made her throat sore and caused inflammation. If there is no improvement after 24 hours or she can’t get comfortable and get some rest then I would have her rechecked

The milk will not sit well on his stomach so I would stop offering that in the meantime. A vaccine reaction can cause vomiting, but it typically does not last so long. Was he given a deworming medication at the time of the vaccine? A high parasite burden can cause vomiting as they die off. I would have her seen by a vet for this today, as in a senior dog this vomiting could have series causes such as liver failure, kidney failure, diabetes, and cancer among other causes. It sounds like she has vomited a fair amount over this 24 hour period, and when a dog vomits a lot, it's time to see the vet. Please take her into one today.

I'm sorry to hear Harley isn't feeling well. It is hard to say what's going on without seeing him. He could have caught something from the puppy, especially since he is not vaccinated. I would be worried about parasites, parvovirus, or a bacterial infection. It could also be something unrelated to the new puppy. At her age, we definitely want to take changes like this seriously. If she's eating and drinking, breathing 10-30 breaths per minute while resting, able to get up and move around, and has normal pink gums, it doesn't sound like an emergency, but I would recommend a vet visit in the next few days if she doesn't go back to normal.
