My pug is coughing and struggling to breathe. Is it bronchitis again?

Poor Lola! Yes, I definitely think this warrants a vet visit. It certainly isn't normal behavior at all, and it could be that she may have heart disease causing the coughing and wheezing. It could also be due to the heat if it's hot where you are, or a respiratory infection. Because it's becoming more frequent, you should definitely take her into the vet. Unfortunately pugs are extremely brachycephalic dogs and it is not rare that they cannot breathe properly and fall unconscious due to lack of oxygen. You will need to take your dog to a veterinarian for assessment and an exam. The extremely flat face and nose causes two problems: the opening of the nose is often obstructed and can be surgically enlarged to help with breathing. Also the soft palate is often way to big as there is no snout, and often obstructs the larynx, cutting off the air flow. This can be surgically adjusted. Both these conditions can also cause heart failure. Please take your dog to a veterinarian or veterinary surgeon for an exam soon.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that Cookis is so sick! The difficulty breathing and vomiting in a young puppy is very concerning to me. You need to take Cookis back to your veterinarian as it sounds like X-rays need to be done. She may have developed pneumonia or have a blockage in her gastrointestinal tract. It is very important to have Cookis seen by a veterinarian as I'm concerned it sounds like she is very ill. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do at home to help at this point without knowing what exactly is causing these issues. I am sorry to hear about Bubu. I would recommend bringing him in to the vet for an examination (particularly because he is a pug so he already has a compromised respiratory system due to his conformation so it is best for any possible respiratory problem to be seen as soon as possible). This could be an issue with the respiratory tract such as kennel cough, or it could be a gastrointestinal issue. The vet will listen to his heart and lungs, palpate his throat, and may recommend x-rays based on their exam. It is not likely related to your family's illness as dogs do not normally catch human flu virus.

If Ebony still has a respiratory infection, it is going to be even more difficult on her body because of her narrow nostrils, which may explain the difficulty breathing. This breed will typically have a hard time when dealing with a respiratory infection because they are unable to move air through their nostrils efficiently. I would recommend taking her in to be seen by a veterinarian and have chest x-rays performed to see if there are any abnormalities that need to be addressed or more infection that requires further antibiotic therapy. HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Coco!! Since she is such a young baby and because of her breed I think she should see a Vet as soon as you can. Also since it has now been 2 days and she is less energetic. Coco may have an upper respiratory infection from a viral or bacterial infection, or kennel cough, or pneumonia or the flu. The Vet, after their exam, may recommend chest X-rays and likely will prescribe antibiotics. I hope this helps and I hope Coco is back to her cute Pug self soon!
