Why is my dog coughing blood, pooping blood, and acting lethargic?

He could have a number of things causing this including parvovirus (if he isn't fully vaccinated), a foreign body obstruction, or just a severe case of colitis associated with the new food that you introduced. Poor guy. I would recommend taking him in today if possible and getting this treated quickly. Best case scenario is that he has a severe case of colitis and a short course of antibiotics and probiotics, along with a bland diet is enough to get him well again. It definitely sounds like Midnight should be seen by a veterinarian sometime soon. As long as he isn't in overt respiratory distress, this doesn't have to be tonight. I would plan on getting him there early this week, however. Based on all the clinical signs you have described, I would suspect there is either some sort of primary respiratory disease such as an infection or cancerous process occurring, or a cardiac condition. Heartworm certainly can not be ruled out as a possibility either. All of the above mentioned conditions can be mostly ruled in or out via a chest x ray. Blood work to go along with this will be able to determine if Heart worm is or is not probable. I hope you are able to figure out what is happening with Midnight.

Oh my. The red blood is very concerning. There could be some type of trauma in her throat or she could have blood coming up from her airway. A bleeding disorder, tracheal injury, canine influenza, rat poison or even pneumonia are all possible causes for this. At any rate Penny needs to see a vet right away for a full examination, oral exam and listen to her lungs. This is a very real concern and you should have him assessed by a vet urgently. Infection, injury, heart and lung disease, parasites, clotting issues and foreign bodies could all be at play. A full physical and possibly chest xrays are recommended immediately

Poor Luna! She could have an infection (parvo, etc) or a parasite. Since she has bloody stool and is lethargic, she should be examined by a vet to determine the cause and treat. Your vet can test a stool sample to help diagnose and then prescribe medications to treat the problem. She might also need some fluids to prevent dehydration. Hope she gets better soon!

OH my. I can understand your despair, especially after having already taken her to your vet. It sounds like she needs to have some testing done to determine what the underlying problem is so that she gets the proper treatment. A pet that is having difficulty breathing, not eating and blood in the stool (could be due to stress), sounds like a possible lower airway infection or even pneumonia. She needs to go to another vet for a second opinion, bloodwork and chest radiographs to evaluate her lungs. If she does have pneumonia, then she will likely need to be hospitalized and treated symptomatically for a few days until she is hopefully well enough to go home. Reasons for blood in the stool include colitis, intestinal parasites and dietary indiscretion and some possible reasons of blood in the urine include urinary tract infections, urinary stones and even tumors. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and treat accordingly.
