My dog's cough and sneezing won't go away, now other dog is sick.

It sounds like they had a touch of kennel cough which is like dog flu. What can happen when treating with antibiotics that if the course finishes too soon it can make them better but hasn't completely killed the bugs then it recurs. I would visit your vet as you may need a longer course or different antibiotic.

Based on the history, I am suspicious of an infectious cause and that Micah has given it to the other animals. Its extremely unusual for cats to get infections from dogs but its not impossible. There are many different organisms (bacteria and viruses) that cause respiratory infections and its possible that the antibiotic was ineffective for this particular infection or that it is a virus that needs to run its course. I would recommend another trip to the vet to have her checked out again to be on the safe side. Make sure Micah is drinking plenty of water and she is getting rest as this is good for her immune system. A fatty acid supplement will also help decrease inflammation in her nose and this may help relieve some symptoms as well.

Oh my. Poor Buddy! This seems a bit extreme even for a Kennel cough, which is what your vet is treating him for with the Doxycycline. It can take about 48-72 hrs of medication before you see improvement; however, if he is getting worse and seems to be in respiratory distress and difficulty breathing, then he needs to go back to the vet for another look. He may need some diagnostics ran (radiographs of his chest) and/or stronger antibiotics to help him recover faster. I do hope your fur baby feels better soon!

This a very concerning fever your dog had. 15 days of antibiotics should have cleared this upper respiratory infection up. Obviously it has not , so you need to take Bruiser back to the vet for a recheck and more, possibly different type of antibiotics. He may have a foreign body in his upper airways, a tumor, possible sinus infection (bacterial or fungal). Unfortunately distemper also has similar signs (this would be concerning if your dog is not up to date on your vaccinations). I suggest you make an appointment with your vet.

An upper respiratory tract infection is usually indicated by coughing, sneezing, eye and/or nose discharge and bringing up white foamy material. The diarrhea may or may not be related. They will need to see their veterinarian if their symptoms persist. A lot of times an antibiotic will be prescribed. In the meantime, encourage them to continue drinking so that they do not become dehydrated. It is generally safe to hold a dog off of food for 18-24 hours to rest the GI tract. This may resolve the diarrhea. Again be sure to provide water. I hope this information helps!

This does not sound like a typical Kennel cough, which is usually responsive to antibiotics within 3-4 days, and then goes away after stopping medication in about 10 days time. There is something else going on here, which could include any of the following: an underlying heart condition (the heart and lungs are very much involved with each other), laryngeal paralysis (causes coughing in young adult dogs but not as common as other disorders), lung parasite, fungal infection of the lungs. You will have to get some testing done at this point to determine what the underlying cause is so that we know how best to treat Bruno moving forward. If he has been on TWO antibiotics and zyrtec since May and it has returned while on these medications I would have him rechecked by your Vet. I would want a chest X-ray and consider doing different medications based on the recheck exam and X-rays. There are many reason for a cough: genetic condition where the trachea collapses, larygneal disease, allergies, heart worm disease, other parasites, allergic disease that needs steroids, cancer, heart enlargement or heart failure.
