My pit bull is constipated, won't eat, and barely walks. What's wrong?

It sounds like she is strained to defecate, likely due to loose stools. Has she been vaccinated? Has she been dewormed or had a negative fecal exam for parasites? If she was eating I wouldn’t be as concerned, but with the poor appetite I am very concerned. Parvovirus or intestinal parasites are high on my list of concerns. Please have her seen by your veterinarian as soon as possible. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon.

I'm sorry to hear that Bentley isn't feeling well. It is not surprising that he is not having bowel movements since he isn't eating. Possible causes of his panting, crying and loss of appetite could be due to orthopedic pain from arthritis or injury, organ dysfunction, pancreatitis (which can also be quite painful), among other issues. I strongly recommend taking Bentley to his vet for further evaluation to determine why these signs are occurring so that the most appropriate course of treatment can be started. Sorry to hear that Stinky isn't feeling so great. The symptoms you are describing could be an indication of many different problems, or even multiple problems at once. If there is a primary gastrointestinal issue, it could be due to an infection, an inflammatory / immune mediated process, indigestion, hepatic / renal disease, parasites, or even a cancerous process ( not very likely or common in a puppy ). If there is a primary orthopedic issue, the most common thing to consider in a puppy would be a traumatic injury. Other causes of lameness can be infectious / inflammatory disease, congenital issues, and cancerous processes. Certain tick borne disease ( lyme disease in particular ) can cause both of the symptoms you are describing. Considering you live in an area of California high in ticks carrying this disease, this would be pretty high on my list of possible differentials. If Stinky is not currently protected against fleas and ticks, I would definitely get him on something. Get him to the vet when they are open tomorrow and see if they can help you figure things out. Differentials are many, from gastrointestinal diseases (infection/inflammations often dietary related) to any disease that can spread systemically (causing lethargy for example) like infection, and anything that can cause pain/discomfort. The approach must be logic, starting from offering different kind of food. A check up is needed if inappetence lasts for more than 24hours. Poor Bentley! It sounds like he is very uncomfortable and needs to be seen by a vet for treatment. At this point, I don't think treating him at home will be successful because it sounds like he might need an enema. Please call your vet an have him seen as soon as possible so he can get some relief. The foul odor could also be caused by a problem with his anal gland and your vet can do an examination to diagnose. Hope he feels better soon!

If Boyka was fine then all of the sudden extremely ill like you have described, the most likely causes of his changes include some type of toxic exposure or an infection. A traumatic experience can not be ruled out either, as the clinical signs you are describing are certainly consistent with pain and discomfort. If it is at all possible, I would recommend having him examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible. The vet should be able to give you a better idea why Boyka's condition has changed so rapidly.

Poor Lightening. He could have parvo, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, may have eaten something rotten or toxic, or could have a foreign body. His symptoms are a medical emergency, and cannot be treated at home. Please take him into a vet immediately.
