My dog has chronic pancreatitis. Is Frontline flea treatment safe?

Yes, Frontline is considered to be safe for use in pregnant female dogs. The active ingredient (fipronil) has never been shown to cause any birth defects or other problems, and it's poorly absorbed into the body in any case so should not affect the developing pups at all :)

It is safe to reapply the Frontline now, but in my experience, it doesn't have great flea protection. You may have better luck with Advantage products or a Seresto collar. The best flea protection is the prescription oral flea preventatives, like Bravecto or Nexgard.

Safe-gard 8 in 1 dewormer contains fenbendazole which is a fairly safe medication. With her history of multiple chronic diseases however I think it would be safest to have Sophie examined by your vet and to have them check a stool sample to confirm whether or not worms are present. You may also want to discuss getting her on a routine heartworm preventative that would also cover many intestinal parasites as well.

I would suggest Frontline Plus. It is safe and effective when applied properly and does not go systemic as some other preventatives. It stays in the layers of the skin. If your dog has seizures, start a Seizure Log. Note the time of day, activity, meds, diet or anything happening around the time of each seizure. This will help you and your vet pinpoint potential triggers.

Hello and thank you for your post! This combination will not likely cause any side effects. Ideally only one should be given at a time but not nexgard and frontline together should be ok. I would, however, monitor your dog for any symptoms such as tremors, seizures, excessive salivation, lethargy and get your dog seen as soon as possible by an emergency vet for treatment. I never consider flea shampoo safe to use, so my answer is no, instead if he has fleas i would recommend using one of the followings (which you can use right away): Bravecto, Nexgard, Advantage, Comfortis.
