Is it safe to wash my puppy with flea shampoo after recent Frontline?

Frontline doesn't always work unfortunately, but a flea shampoo is not likely to give you a better result. Instead I recommend using Advantage or Advocate spot on, Alternatively a comfortis tablet will do an excellent job as well. Do not bath her at least 3 days before and after you apply any spot on. As these flea treatment do not contain the same active ingredients as the frontline, they are safe to use at anytime you chose.

Hello, yes you may. Flea shampoo for dogs are generally safe, although some dogs may want to ingest the shampoo can develop some vomiting or diarrhea from it. Hello, yes it is ok to bathe your puppy however, please use warm water and make sure she is thoroughly dry after her bath. Some flea shampoos may be ok for puppies this young, you should find the recommended age for the shampoo you are trying to use on the bottle itself. Most often, if you puppy has fleas, it is most safe to bathe with plain water and shampoo. Most of the time, you won't need flea shampoo. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I recommend waiting about 2-3 days after applying Frontline to bathe your dog to allow sufficient time for the product to absorb. You should also wait about 2-3 days after bathing to apply Frontline to allow the skin to be slightly oily to optimally absorb the product.

It is safe to reapply the Frontline now, but in my experience, it doesn't have great flea protection. You may have better luck with Advantage products or a Seresto collar. The best flea protection is the prescription oral flea preventatives, like Bravecto or Nexgard.

Most of these flea shampoos often do more damage than good, i recommend not to use any of them, instead use high quality flea treatments such as Advantage spot on or Bravecto tablets. it doesn't sound like Archie got too bad of a reaction though, he should be fine.

I would recommend using caution if the flea/tick shampoo and the topical product both contain permethrins, particularly if you have a small dog. I recommend avoiding all over the counter products containing permethrins for cats since they are prone to toxicity. If you use a flea/tick shampoo with permethrin and a topical product that has a different active ingredient it should be safer. An even safer alternative would be to use blue Dawn dishsoap for bathing, followed by flea combing and then applying a topical product.
